of Public Hearings Leads to an Additional
Meeting
TALLAHASSEE - Today, Chairmen of the Senate and House
Redistricting Committees announced the addition of a Gainesville Public
Redistricting Hearing.
The overwhelming attendance and member participation of previous public hearings, along with the requests of local officials in Gainesville, have prompted House and Senate Leadership to add this hearing. We hope this hearing will further facilitate the already fair and open process that the Florida Legislature has been instrumental in creating in the 2001 Redistricting process. This hearing will be held: Members wishing to attend should contact The House Redistricting Committee at 850-488-3928 to confirm attendance, receive directions and receive hotel accommodation information. We look forward to seeing you at the Gainesville Public Redistricting Hearing on Wednesday. ###

"Once a decade, the legislature is charged with redesigning Florida's Congressional, state House and state Senate seats in order to serve Florida's citizens in the most effective way possible. Each of the members from the Redistricting Committee have been invited to be in attendance of the twenty scheduled hearings, as well as local delegation members. "The Florida House would like to encourage the public's participation and input in this very important legislative process.
